Dr. Ray is the Program Coordinator for the B.A. in Geography and Environmental Studies at UAS in Juneau. Her research interests are environmental justice, interdisciplinary environmental studies, political ecology, cultural and human geography, environmental history, and ecocriticism. She teaches environmental literature, writing, and geography.
Dr. Ray received her degree in Environmental Sciences, Studies, and Policy, with English as a focal department and a concentration in Geography, from the University of Oregon in 2009. She holds a master's in American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin (2003), and a bachelor's in Religious Studies and Women's Studies from Swarthmore College (1998). She was an Association for American University Women Doctoral Fellow 2008-2009 for her project, "The Ecological Other: Indians, Invalids, and Immigrants in U.S. Environmental Thought and Literature."
