Roger Pearson
Professor of Geography Emeritus
University of Illinois, '70, Ph.D.
Roger is a professor of geography emeritus from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. His academic geography career began at the University of Georgia. He also served in both the U.S. Army (Corps of Engineers) as a Lieutenant and in the U.S. Public Health Service as a Lt. Commander. He was a full-time UAF Geography Department faculty member from 1976 to 1998. Since 1998, he has been a Senior Fellow at the Institute of the North in Anchorage. In 1988, he co-founded the Alaska Geographic Alliance for teachers, and remains as a co-coordinator of the organization. In 1998, he co-edited Alaska in Maps, a thematic atlas of Alaska.
